Par Erick Okandju Masangu , Défi Amuri Assani, Djédjé Tumba Lokwa, Ernest Watanga Luangu, Morisho Rashidi,[DOI: 10.24214/jecet.A.11.3.40109.]

Most young university graduates in Maniema suffer from a lack of employment and as a result stagnate in immeasurable misery and poverty. Having degrees, many prefer to frolic with job applications without adequate answers. However, the province of Maniema has a gigantic agricultural potential which can constitute a godsend for the reduction of unemployment. This is why this study has proposed to be able to showcase the opportunities for wealth creation that the province of Maniema abounds in the agricultural sector and in agroforestry. And this, in order to challenge these young people to be able to boost their creativity in this area by knowing how to reconcile the idea with the socio-economic reality of Maniema (solvent market). Therefore, for the collection of data and the achievement of the explanation in relation to our object of study, we made not only use of tape recorder for the recording of certain interviews and some audio news bulletins of the speakers in this field (non-biological material), but also in a deductive approach, we used the method of immediate history or present time; used more in the social sciences. The latter allowed us to use public and private documentation, the press, the Internet and digital sources that cover the contemporary field of our object of study. As well as a few unstructured interviews. After research, the results showed that the agricultural sector in Maniema is proving to be a promising sector, because it has arable land and there is no sector that can hire like agriculture in the broad sense (the cultivation, fishing and animal husbandry). Without forgetting the cultivation of economical and ecological plants. But, to get there, these young people must get information and training; as well as the State must strengthen its preeminence in order to adapt public policies to stimulate the spirit of creativity in the latter.

A.11.3.41018.]

Design and Optimization of cooling tower for effluent treatment plant

Smith Poojara, C.G. Bhagchandani and Mr. Vipul Patel ,[DOI: 10.24214/jecet.A.11.3.41928.]

Cooling towers are basically devices that cool the warm water by contacting it with ambient air. A cooling tower works on the principle of evaporative cooling. A little amount of water evaporates, causing the flowing water to cool and the air to heat. A lesser percentage of the water gets entrained in the air stream as water droplets, which are referred to as "drift." This cooling tower design is based on counter-current flow characteristics, which are used to calculate its efficacy and efficiency. This study aims to design a counter-flow cooling tower such that operating costs are minimized. Operating cost minimization is based on factors such as efficient design of pumps, fans, and packing. The model is employed and validated for further studies. The 4,500 m3/h nominal capacity cooling tower was designed based on the required cooling water parameters in the process of the effluent treatment plant located in Narol GIDC Ahmadabad.

Leila M. A. Hamed, Gaafar K. Nogod, Hythem S.A. Saeed,Rajaa, B.M. Sebaa and Abdelmonem M. Abdellah ,[DOI: 10.24214/jecet.A.11.3.42938.]

Sniffing lead-containing substances among adolescents is a worldwide problem that affects behavioral development. In this study, a total of 120 sniffers from Rashd, Tayba and Bashair Rehabilitation Centers in Khartoum City were randomly selected to investigate the effect of sniffing lead-containing substances on biochemical parameters, e.g., Lead (mg/dl), calcium (mg/dl), total protein (mg/dl), albumin (mg/dl), total bilirubin (mg/dl), direct bilirubin (mg/dl), indirect bilirubin (mg/dl), AST (U/L), ALT (U/L), cholesterol and triglyceride. Result indicated that most of the studied biochemical parameters were not significantly different according to the rehabilitation center location, but Tayba Rehabilitation Center showed the highest levels of each of lead, total bilirubin and cholesterol. It is recommended that rehabilitation centers must raise awareness among adolescents towards the potential risks of sniffing lead containing substances.">

Water resources have been the most exploited natural system since man strode the earth. On the one hand rapid population growth, increasing living standards, wide spheres of human activities and industrialization have resulted in greater demand of good quality water while on the other hand, population of water resources is increasing steadily. The environmental quality is greatly focused on water because of the importance in maintaining the human health and ecosystem. Water performs unique and indispensable activities in earth ecosystem, biosphere. Thus water is needed for recreation, transportation, and hydroelectric power, domestic uses etc. So the quality of physicochemical parameters of water should be examined. The present investigation pays attention on the physico-chemical parameters of both surface water and underground water in different regions of Coimbatore in winter season (July- December 2021). The surface water samples were collected at lakes in Mettupalayam, Muthannakulam, Vellalore, Thamaraikulam, Kurichi and Perur.  The underground water samples were collected at Premier nagar, Pollachi, Mettupalayam, Hope college, Thudiyalur and Saravanampatti. The physico-chemical parameters like pH, Turbidity, TDS, Alkalinity, Total hardness, Dissolved oxygen, Chloride, Nitrates, Nitrites, Fluorides, Calcium, Potassium and Sodium were analyzed. The results suggested that the overall quality of surface and ground water is suitable for domestic purpose not for suitable for drinking.

Biosorption of various heavy metals from industrial effluents by dry biomass of plants

Deepti Rangnani,[DOI: 10.24214/jecet.A.11.3.47782.]

Industrial effluents treatment is the most important target for researchers in the present era as it contains hazardous pollutants which lead to serious environmental problems and it also affects human health and aquatic systems. In this reference heavy metal contamination in waste water released from mineral processing, mining industries, agricultural units and commercial properties is a major concern issue in India nowadays. Various conventional methods such as ion exchange, reverse osmosis, chemical precipitation, electro dialysis and phytoremediation are used for the treatment of this wastewater containing heavy metals prior to its discharge to the environment. These conventional heavy metal removal methods have certain limitations, sometimes they are ineffective and uneconomical, so in recent years biosorption as an option for developing eco-friendly alternatives for removing heavy metals such as Cu (II), Zn(II), Mn(II) from wastewater.
